Session Overview
This replay guides you through a series of seated and standing movements paired with playful mark-making. Dinny and Giulia invite you to notice texture, breath, and story as you draw. The session is accessible to beginners and can be completed entirely from a chair.
What You Will Need
- Paper or a sketchbook
- Coloured pencils, crayons, or markers
- Optional: watercolours, collage scraps, or natural materials
- A comfortable chair or mat
- Water and a cosy layer for the closing rest
Structure
- Grounding check-in (5 minutes): arrive with a hand-on-heart meditation and name your emotional weather.
- Somatic warm-up (10 minutes): gentle stretches and joint rotations to prepare the wrists, shoulders, and spine.
- Creative flow (20 minutes): guided drawing prompts linked to each breath pattern; explore line, shape, and colour.
- Integration (10 minutes): reflective journaling and optional group share, closed with a breathing practice.
Try This While Watching
- Mirror the facilitator’s movements but pause whenever your body requests a break.
- Let your non-dominant hand draw. Perfection is not the goal—curiosity is.
- Write a word or phrase inside your artwork once the session ends. Notice how it changes the story.
Aftercare Suggestions
Take a photo of your piece and note the colours you used most. Consider posting it in a private chat with a supportive friend or bringing it to a live Whakatau Mai session for collective inspiration.
